The Dangers of Forestry
Our aim
To provide information about the risks and hazards associated with forestry to university undergraduate students, prospective loggers and current loggers. This website serves as a health and safety information hub for people to find out what regulations are in place to protect the workers, what hazards workers must be aware of to remain safe, as well what risk factors are commonly found in the 'workplace' that increase the likelihood of a negative consequence. With the information provided on our site, as well as the links to other health and safety websites, our hope is to increase knowledge and awareness and effectively reduce workplace injuries.
"I'm a lumberjack and I'm Okay..."

This image of a Feller Buncher gives an idea of how many hazards workers have to deal with. From this picture alone, you can see the pinch point hazard by the hydraulic fingers. The semi-open saw blade also poses a risk to workers in the area. There is clearly not a safe place in this workplace as workers on the ground and operators each have their own hazards they must deal with. We will talk more about these in the 'Hazards' section.
